The Eye Doctor

One of our students had a visit to the eye doctor. Her pupils were dilated, so she was unable to read from a screen during the lesson. This meant a little bit of creativity was required on the part of the teacher as reading is one of the biggest skills we focus on. The teacher found some sound clips and assembled audio based activities. Storytelling ensued as opposed to story reading. It was a fun challenge and an interesting experiment.

For homework, the teacher picked out a sound clip involving some barking dogs. The student was asked to show what she heard in picture and story form. She decided to make the sounds into a comic strip. Amazing to see how limitations can lead to unexpectedly positive results!
